Underneath the Waves: Submarine Addition

I never expected in all of my life to get into a metal tube and explore the underwater but here we are. It was an opportunity I decided not to pass up. I heard there was a submarine you could go in around Honolulu, Hawaii and I decided right then and there it was a chance I would probably never get again because how many times in your life is there a submarine available for you to get into and go on.

I wasn't really sure at all what this experience was going to be like or entail but I sure decided to hop in. We took a boat about 5 minutes from the dock to the middle of the ocean where the submarine was. All you saw when we got there was this huge bubble and then the submarine came floating on top of the water.
The boat and submarine attatched and we climbed on the top of it and into a hole with stairs that led inside. We got to take a seat and it was filled with seats and windows you could look through. Right as everybody was in everyone was just so quiet.
I had no idea what to expect but it was the shape of what it would be like to be inside of a pill. It was really cool because you could just see bright blue through the windows. We went under the water and reached around 110ft.

We went to some man made reefs and got to see a bunch of different fish and we also got to go to different ship and plane wrecks. Many of the fish live in the wrecks and swam around there. The reefs were manmade because Hawaii experiences many different natural disasters and so the coral and seaweed often gets wiped away with those and the fish need these to thrive and survive.

The driver of the submarine in my opinion had the best seat and it was crazy to see our depth and just look out through the windows. I was hoping to see sharks, manta rays, or even some dophins or sea turtles because they apparently see them a lot in the submarine but we did not. I was a little sad but it was still such a cool experience.

The visibility was not great on the day we went because there had been a lot of rain in hawaii that week. The visiblity matters because you can see more when it is better and you can see farther out too. We could still see but I almost feel like if it was better we might have seen something other than just fish.
It really was not something scary but I have heard of submarines going missing before. There was a boat on top of the water with out location to make sure we did not get lost and to make sure that when we came to the surface there was nothing on top of us like another boat. It feels pretty slow and peaceful when you are down there.

My sister, my dad, and I did our tour with Atlantis Submarines and I believe it is the only company that does this in Hawaii. I think it was definitely worth it because although we did not see any crazy sea creatures going in the submarine was an experience in itself that was so entirely cool.
In the end I am so glad to have gotten into that big metal pill shaped tube because like I said before how many times in your life do you comes across a submarine you get to go in and see everything underwater.
